It’s finally here. Week 1 of the NFL season has arrived and our beloved Indianapolis Colts will have a great test today. The Colts will face one of the top defensive lines today in hopes of getting this possibly record-breaking offense off on the right foot. There are a few things to watch for in today’s game. Enjoy and GO COLTS!!!
Colts O-Line against Bill D-Line
It’s no surprise that the Colts offensive line is still shaky. The Buffalo Bills have a top three defensive front. Luckily, their arguably best lineman, Marcell Dareus, has to sit out due to suspension, but it’s still going to be a big test today. Can the Colts offensive line open the holes for Frank Gore and Josh Robinson? Can they protect the franchise, Andrew Luck, and make sure Jerry Hughes or Mario Williams don’t tee off on him? Anthony Castonzo just got paid so he will really need to show the fans that the organization didn’t waste their money on locking the big man down for the next couple of years.
Young Colts D-Line will be put to the test
The Colts front office decided to go with the youth movement along the defensive front. Stanford standouts David Parry and Henry Anderson showed up in the preseason and beat out some of the Colts veterans for starting positions, though the Arthur Jones injury likely led to Anderson getting the nod. By letting go of Montori Hughes and Josh Chapman the front office has put their faith in both Parry and Anderson to improve the weakest facet the Colts’ game last season. Parry will start at nose tackle while Anderson will flip flop between defensive tackle and defensive end. New edition Kendall Langford is the veteran of the group now and will have to make sure he leads these young guys in the right directions.
Keeping Tyrod Taylor in check
The other thing that you will want to watch for it is if the Colts’ outside linebackers can contain Bills QB Tyrod Taylor. He is a very mobile quarterback with a decent arm. He will be able to get away from the pressure and as Ludacris says, “ROLL OUT!!” No one knows yet if Robert Mathis will be playing today (if he does, it will be limited) so Trent Cole, Eric Walden, and Jonathan Newsome will be charged with making sure that Taylor doesn’t go all Terrelle Pryor on the Colts. The thought of LeSean “Shady” McCoy and Taylor having their way with the Colts defense is a scary thought and I hope the Colts are up to the challenge they will undoubtedly face.
